Joyce M. Nations, O.D.
2008 - 2009 GOA Optometrist of the Year
Dr. Joyce M. Nations received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Optometry in 1993. She also received her Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Alabama in 1993 and her Bachelor of Science degree from North Georgia College and State University in 1989.
Dr. Nations has been in private family practice since 1993 with office locations in Canton and Dawsonville. Dr. Nations established Cherokee Eye Group in 1993 in Canton, the former practice of Dr. J.R. Raines and established Dawson Eye Group in 1998. She is an active member of the Canton Lions Club, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce. She is also an active member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association and the Ninth District Optometric Society. She has served as the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Georgia Optometric Association. She has also served as the Membership Chair, Elections Chair and HEHP representative for the State Association. She received the GOA "Optometrist of the Year" in June 2008.

Beth Volingavage O.D
Dr. Beth Volingavage received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2005. She also received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Visual Science from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2002. Dr. Volingavage also received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kings College in 2001.
She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, the Greater Atlanta Optometric Society and the Ninth District Optometric Society.

Kim Ivy, LDO, ABOC, NCLE
Kim is a Licensed Dispensing Optician and received her license in 1994. She is also American Board of Opticianry Certified and has her National Contact Lens Certification. Kim has been in the optical industry since 1990. She attends continuing education courses regularly to obtain information on the latest technology available. She started working with Dr. Nations in 1994 in the Canton location.
As Optician, Kim is responsible for assisting patients with eyeglass selection, obtaining measurements for proper lens alignment, ordering and dispensing of eyewear. Other responsiblities include frame board management, accounts receivable, payable and marketing.
After years of Optical experience, Kim has knowledge in all areas; including, front office, technician, contact lens dispensing, insurance verification and filing. |

Brittany Lowman- Optometric Technician
Brittany has been with Dawson Eye Group since 2007. She assists the doctors with patient pre-testing and currently handles all contact lens responsibilities. Brittany has completed several on-line classes for further education with her position.

Marty Parker-Appointment Coordinator
Marty started with Dawson Eye Group in February 2009. She is a life long resident of Dawson County. Her duties include scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance and data input.

Jennifer Borum-Insurance Coordinator
Jennifer joined Dawson Eye Group in August 2009. Her responsiblities include verifying patient benefits, filing patient claims and accounts receivable. Jennifer is also the credentialing coordinator for our practice. She is a native of Cherokee County but currently resides in Dawson County.

Sharon Gunnin-Front Office Assistant
Sharon has been working with Dr. Nations since 1993. She is knowledgeable in the optical field as well as front office. Sharon currently works part time with Dawson Eye Group. She is a native of Cherokee County and now resides in Pickens County.
